Show My Pony

Social Network for Riders, Horses, and Ponies

I know you all have to have a favorite or a few favorite horse quotes so let me hear em! Here are two of my favorites.

From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, it's just a horse," or, "that's a lot of money for "just a horse". They don't understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a horse."

Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a horse." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a horse," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a horse,' and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a horse" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

If you, too, think it's "just a horse," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a horse" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a horse" brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person. Because of "just a horse" I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me and people like me, it's not "just a horse" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a horse" brings out what's good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day. I hope that someday they can understand that it's not "just a horse" but the thing that gives me humanity.

So the next time you hear the phrase "just a horse" just smile, because they "just" don't understand.

Second one- The wind of heaven is that which blows between my horse's ears.

Here are some of my favorites...
1. In riding a horse we borrow freedom. -Helen Thomson
2. If you want a stable friendship, get a horse.
3. My horse's feet are as swift as rolling thunder
He carries me away from all my fears
And when the world threatens to fall asunder
His mane is there to wipe away my tears.
-Bonnie Lewis
4. A horse is poetry in motion.
5. Look back on our struggle for freedom,
Trace our present day's strength to its source;
And you'll find that man's pathway to glory
Is strewn with the bones of a horse.

My trainer is constantly saying in lessons that you "cannot train a horse to a shout and expect him to obey a whisper"
I think thats a great motto for anyone trying to get more in sync with their animal.

Ok heres mine:

Equestrians ARE Athletes. There's no point arguing against us. How many other athletes have to work alongside a 1200lb athlete with a mind of its own? We know damn well that our horses are athletes, too. Don't say we just "sit there" and let the horse do the work. Unless you have had the guts to get on a horse and see what this sport is all about, you can't say it's easy. It's just our job to make it look easy. We are athletes working with other athletes.

here are a few...
-The daughter who won't lift a finger in the house is the same child who cycles madly off in the pouring rain to spend all morning mucking out a stable.
-When I can't ride any more, I shall still keep horses as long as I can hobble about with a bucket and wheelbarrow. When I can't hobble, I shall roll my wheelchair out to the fence of the field where my horse's graze, and watch them.
- Monica Dickens
-The color of the ribbon doesn't matter. I know that we did our best. And all that matters is that we tried our best and reached our goal of working together.

and i thought this one was cute..
-Some girls want Abercrombie,
All I want is my Ariats
